Unplug and Be Outside

May 5-12

Unplug and Be Outside Meridian is a week full of free activities designed to inspire and empower families to get off the couch and get active!  Over the past 30 years, the obesity rate in children 6-11 years old has quadrupled.  The average American child spends more than 30 hours a week in front of a screen (TV, computer, tablets, and video games) and now researchers say there’s a connection between the number of hours spent in front of a TV and childhood obesity.

That makes events like this so important! This serves as a jumping off point to help local families embrace a healthy and active lifestyle year round. So, get off the couch and try one of these free activities. Unplug and Be Outside. Have some fun!
