City Seeks to Fill Parks & Recreation Commission Vacancy


Meridian, ID – (October 8, 2009) – The City of Meridian is currently seeking an individual to fill a vacancy on its Parks and Recreation Commission.  This commission meets the second Wednesday evening of each month at 6:00 pm at Meridian City Hall.


The Parks and Recreation Commission is a citizen advisory committee that advises the City Council on the acquisition of lands and facilities for use as parks or recreation centers; the Parks and Recreation Commission also advises on the operation, use, care and maintenance of City-owned parks and recreation areas.


Applicants must be aged 18 years old or above and reside within the Meridian city limits or its area of impact.  The successful applicant will be appointed by Mayor Tammy de Weerd and confirmed by the Meridian City Council.  This term will begin November 1, 2009, and run for a duration of three years.


Anyone who would like to be considered for this voluntary position should complete an application form, which can be found on the City of Meridian web site ( under the City Government link or obtained from the Meridian City Clerk’s Office.  In addition, a letter of interest and resume should be sent to Mayor Tammy de Weerd at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, ID., 83642, by Thursday October 15, 2009.
