CITY OF MERIDIAN ANNOUNCES ANOTHER SEASON OF

SUMMER MOVIES IN SETTLERS PARK

CableONE Movie Night in Meridian Now In Its Fourth Season

Meridian, ID – (May 25, 2010) – The City of Meridian will begin the fourth season of CableONE Movie Night in Meridian on Friday, June 4, 2010 in Meridian’s Settlers Park.  This award-winning outdoor movie series is free and open to the public.

“CableONE Movie Night continues to grow in popularity, attracting 1,000 to 3,000 people every Friday night.  As a ‘signature’ activity of our Parks and Recreation Department it is reaching new heights each summer.  With a great line-up of films, we expect the 2010 season to be a popular event this summer,” said Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd.

This year’s title sponsor, CableONE, is joined by presenting sponsors Rocky Mountain Audio/Visual, Meridian Rotary Club and Idaho Tennis Association.  Shows begin at dusk, weather permitting, and will run every Friday from June 4, 2010 until August 27, 2010 for a total of 13 great movies.

“The positive response to CableONE Movie Night in Meridian has been overwhelming,” said Steve Siddoway, Meridian Parks and Recreation Director.  “It really makes us feel good as a City and as a department that we’re able to bring the community a program like this that provides families a fun reason to spend more time together.”

Prior to each movie, different activities or entertainment groups will be on hand for those in attendance. Activities will be different for each show and will include live bands, magic shows, martial arts demonstrations, carnival games, and raffles.

A variety of concessions will be available for purchase at each show, including hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream, smoothies, and toys.

“There will be a lot of things to do at each show,” said Colin Moss, CableONE Movie Night in Meridian Program Coordinator.  “Friday nights at Settlers Park will provide a great opportunity this summer for a fun night out with your family and friends.”
