The City of Meridian is inviting the public to attend a meeting regarding the development of a future park site near Cherry Lane and McDermott Road in west Meridian. This open-house style informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Meridian City Hall located at 33 E. Broadway Avenue.

This future park site is slated to begin development in 2013.  It is located on the property where the annual Lions Club Rodeo has customarily been held near Cherry Lane and McDermott Road.  This site is commonly referred to as the “Borup” property.

Conceptual plans will be presented and discussed for the future development of this park site.  The conceptual plans include a new rodeo facility, a new dog park, and/or softball fields.  Additional input from the public is welcomed as representatives from the City of Meridian will be available to answer questions, gather comments, and listen to new ideas and feedback.

Meridian Parks and Recreation Director Steve Siddoway explains, “Although work on this property isn’t scheduled to begin in earnest for several more years, it’s already time to begin going through the planning and thought processes that will shape its future uses and appearance.  We have some initial concepts in mind, but are eager to hear the thoughts and ideas of those who will ultimately use the amenities on a day-to-day basis.”
