Kings of Swing to Perform in Meridian City Hall Plaza

Meridian, ID – (June 16, 2011) –  The 2011 Concerts on Broadway live summer music series will hold its first performance on Saturday, June 18, at 7:00 p.m., in Meridian City Hall’s outdoor plaza located at 33 E. Broadway Avenue. The concert is free to attend and will feature live music by the Kings of Swing, a big band dance orchestra performing popular music from Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and other music legends.

“Our Concerts on Broadway Series continues to grow in popularity each summer and residents of all ages have told me they appreciate the opportunity to enjoy live music so close to home,” said Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd.  “I appreciate the work of the Meridian Arts Commission to bring these performances to the community.”

Limited seating is available in the plaza’s built-in amphitheatre.  Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own folding chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, and beverages.  If inclimate weather occurs, the performance will be moved to an indoor location.

The two additional concerts in the summertime series will feature Kevin Kirk & Onomatopoeia on July 9 and the Meridian Symphony Orchestra on August 20. Both concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Meridian City Hall’s outdoor plaza.

The 2011 Concerts on Broadway live music series is a project of the Meridian Arts Commission.
