Meridian, ID – (September 30, 2011) – Meridian Residents are invited to attend Meridian Neighbor Night – a town hall meeting that will celebrate neighbors and neighborhoods – on Wednesday, October 5, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., at Meridian City Hall.

This event will feature an informative presentation called “12 Ways to Energize Your Neighborhood,” followed by an interactive panel discussion with opportunities for Q&A and idea sharing.  Representatives from the City and the community will be on hand to help discuss a variety of topics, which are likely to include crime prevention, code enforcement, roads and traffic, conflict resolution, homeowner associations, and social media.

At 7:00 p.m., Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd will present a number of individuals and businesses with the City’s new Neighborhood Star Award.  This award recognizes Meridian residents who were nominated by their neighbors for being exceptionally committed to preserving, maintaining, and improving the quality of life and safety in their neighborhoods and the broader Meridian community.

Mayor De Weerd emphasizes, “We’re really pleased to have this venue to annually identify and honor Meridian residents who embody the spirit of neighbors-helping-neighbors.  It’s important to recognize those who are making a meaningful difference in our neighborhoods and who do not typically seek or receive recognition for their efforts.”
