Pharmaceutical Information

Beginning October 1, 2009 residents of Meridian will have a venue to safely dispose of unsed prescription and over-the-counter medications.  This program is a joint venture through the Meridian Police Department, the Meridian Mayor's Anti-Drug Coalition, and the City of Meridian Wastewater Division, Public Works Department.  This will be the first medication drop-off program of its kind in Idaho.

Meridian residents can drop off unsed medications, including presciptions, over-the-counter, pet medications as well as liquids in leak proof containers at the Meridian Police Department 1401 E. Watertower Lane, between the hours of 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday.  Infectious Waste and Sharps/Needles can not be accepted at this location, but Sharps/Needles can be accepted at the Sanitary Services Company, located at 2130 W. Franklin Road, Meridian.

Meridian School Education Program

A Water Quality Presentation has been developed by the Pretreatment Section of the Environmental Division, Public Works Department to educate young students of the elementary school levels in Water Quality, Conservation, Wastewater Treatment and Storm Water environmental impact.  This professionally developed presentation describes how kids and their families can impact their communitys local watershed.  Several third grade classes at Paramount Elenentary School have recently particapted in the class room presentation with great success, more Meridian School District Schools are targeted this fall/spring time period.  This program is offered to our schools at no cost to the school for materials or instruction by the City of Meridian, Public Works Department.
