City of Meridian Seeks Candidates for Multiple Commissions

MERIDIAN, ID – The City of Meridian is now accepting applications for individuals interested in serving on a City Commission or City Committee. The below list of commissions are seeking to fill vacancies with engaged residents interested in their respective subject matter.

 

PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 15, 2023

The Planning and Zoning Commission is seeking to fill a vacancy with an engaged resident, interested in the planning and zoning process and subjects. This commission serves an advisory role to the Meridian City Council in matters relating to land use, zoning, transportation, and housing issues as framed by Meridian’s Comprehensive Plan and provides final action on discretionary permits.
 
Eligible applicants must live in the City of Meridian or in the City's Area of Impact and have resided in Ada County for two years and within the Area of Impact for at least one year. Meridian’s Area of Impact is identified as the unincorporated area in white on the map located on our website here », within the dotted lines.
 
Commissioners are required to remain a resident in the area during the term of service. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the first and third Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Meridian City Hall. 


SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMISSION
APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 15, 2023

The City of Meridian is seeking applications from Meridian citizens and industry experts interested in serving on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission. Industry experts do not need to reside in Meridian, all other applicants shall be Meridian residents.

The Commission plays a vital role in determining the future of the community's solid waste program. Their efforts are crucial as they provide necessary input and assist the city with information gathering and deliberative processes.

The Solid Waste Advisory Commission advises the Mayor and Meridian City Council on issues related to solid waste management and the recycling program. The Commission meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at Meridian City Hall.

Successful applicants will be appointed by Mayor Simison and confirmed by the Meridian City Council. More information about these commissions can be found at, www.meridiancity.org/commissions ». A link to the application form can be found here ». In addition to the application, a letter of interest and resume should be submitted with the completed application. Applications can be submitted online or delivered to Mayor Simison at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, ID 83642. All applications should be submitted by close of business on Friday, December 15.
