Meridian - The City of Meridian, in partnership with Republic Services, offers convenient ways to recycle holiday lights, dispose of extra trash, and recycle real Christmas trees this holiday season.
“We are pleased to offer these convenient holiday waste disposal options to Meridian residents,” said Sayard Schultz, Solid Waste Coordinator. “By recycling holiday lights, disposing of extra trash properly, and recycling real Christmas trees, residents can help keep our community clean and sustainable.”
Holiday Light Recycling (Nov. 28 – Jan. 13)
Meridian residents can recycle unwanted string lights, electrical cords, and plastic rope lights at the Meridian Transfer Station (MTS) for free. Extra Trash Winter Collection (Dec. 26 – Dec. 30)
During the last week of December, residents can place additional trash and accepted, scheduled bulky items at the curb for free on their regular trash pickup day. Call Republic Services at 208-345-1265 to schedule items. This service only covers trash, and any additional recyclables should be brought to the Meridian Transfer Station at no additional cost. Christmas Tree Recycling (Jan. 2 – Jan. 6)
Residents can easily get rid of unwanted, real Christmas trees during the first full week in January. Place trees at the curb on your regular trash day. Remember to remove all decorations and flocking, and cut any tree larger than 6 feet into 4-foot sections. Please no fake trees. For more information, visit meridiancity.org/tree-recycling ».
