Meridian Fire and Police Departments invite community members to join them in celebrating crime and fire prevention months with Meridian Public Safety Day. The event will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Fire Station One (540 E. Franklin Road).
Participants can look forward to demonstrations from Meridian Police and Meridian Fire Departments. This includes a live fire demonstration, cardiac arrest simulation, a vehicle extrication demonstration, K-9 presentation, traffic RADAR examples, fingerprint lifting activities, and more.
“This is an opportunity for the public to see and interact with their Public Safety employees, learn how to keep themselves and their families safe, and have fun!” said Herb Griffin, Community Risk Reduction Specialist.
Additionally, residents will have the chance to explore several safety topics through interactive booths. These topics will cover everything from car seat and helmet safety to 911 simulations. Attendees can also try on SWAT gear and receive information from the Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition (MADC). Families are also welcome to tour a fire house, specifically designed to teach them important exit drills for emergencies at home.
