MERIDIAN - The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition (MADC) hosted their 18^th Annual Recovery Day Celebration yesterday, September 28th, in honor of all those in recovery. More than 30 community members joined City leaders and special guests to hear from speakers including Meridian Mayor Robert Simison, MADC Director Kendall Nagy, and guest speaker Amanda Davison, Director of Clinical Outreach for Charlie Health.
 
In welcoming Amanda Davison for her remarks, Mayor Simison spoke about the important role that MADC plays in our community, the value of this event, and that recovery becomes possible with compassion from our officers and others that provide needed support to those struggling with substance abuse.
 
Amanda shared her story of maintaining sobriety after recently losing her partner and younger brother to suicide completion. Amanda carries a message of experience, strength, and hope; prioritizing connecting with others, emphasizing self-care, and believes that together we can do the hard things.
 
During Amanda’s story, she shared “I believe life can happen to me or life can happen for me. It’s an opportunity for growth and that’s all a matter of perception.” The Recovery Day Breakfast event, including Amanda’s story can be found on the City of Meridian’s YouTube Channel, here.
 
“I look forward to this celebration each year knowing it will unite us and strengthen support for those navigating recovery. It helps bring new perspectives and fosters growth,” said Kendall.
