City of Meridian Celebrates Public Works Week with Public Works Expo and Go with the Flow Tour

MERIDIAN, ID – The City of Meridian is thrilled to announce the return of its annual Public Works Week celebrations, packed with fun and informative events for the whole family. This year's festivities kick off with the Public Works Expo on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the highly anticipated return of the "Go with the Flow Facilities Tour" on Thursday, May 23rd, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Meridian's Public Works Expo is a free, family-friendly event designed to educate and entertain. It offers a fun and interactive experience for all ages, featuring live demonstrations, hands-on displays, up-close looks at large equipment, giveaways, and special appearances by "Hydro," the Public Works Mascot. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn about the vital role that Public Works plays in Meridian's day-to-day operations! Join us on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Meridian City Hall Plaza.

"We're pleased to announce the 2024 'Go with the Flow Facilities Tour,'" says Laurelei McVey, Public Works Director. "This informative tour provides a unique glimpse into Meridian's infrastructure, showcasing the complex systems our dedicated Public Works team manages daily to ensure clean water, sanitation, and environmental sustainability. With limited space available, we encourage residents to reserve their spots early." 

This exclusive chartered bus tour takes place on Thursday, May 23rd, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It offers a firsthand look at the inner workings of Meridian's infrastructure, starting at Meridian City Hall with stops at wells, lift stations, and the Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility. While the tour is free and open to the public, reservations are limited and required to secure a seat. Reservations are now open.

These community events showcase the essential services the Meridian Public Works Department provides to its citizens and offer a unique opportunity to learn about the infrastructure that makes Meridian a premier place to live, work, and raise a family.
