The City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Department wants the public to join them in celebrating the grand opening of Meridian’s Hillsdale Park (3801 E. Hillpark Street). The grand opening celebration is Friday, May 25 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and features a free concert by Arizona’s premier Beach Boys tribute band called the Southwest Surfers. The concert begins at 6:00 p.m.

“Marti Hall and Dixie Cook were very generous in donating this land and now they are bringing in their favorite band for the grand opening! We want the community to join them in celebrating this park and the amenities it adds to Meridian,” said Steve Siddoway, Meridian Parks and Recreation Director.

Aside from the live music, the celebration will include a classic car display, food trucks, games for kids, and activities put together by the South Meridian Family YMCA, St. Luke’s Health System, the Meridian Library District. Special thanks to Marti Hill and Dixie Cook as well as the Russell Corporation for making the Hillsdale Park Grand Opening Celebration come to fruition!

Hillsdale Park is 10 acres and will serve the students at Hillsdale Elementary and the community. The park is agricultural themed and includes a walking path, exercise stations, playground, water feature and more. It is part of the The Hill - a 22.5 acre campus that comprises five community partners that will be part of the grand opening celebration: South Meridian Family YMCA, St. Luke’s Health System, West Ada School District and the Meridian Library District.

“This park is a symbol of both our past and future. It came to fruition thanks to a generous donation and brings together a unique partnership that has created a one-of-a-kind hub for education, recreation, wellness and literacy for our citizens,” said Mayor Tammy de Weerd, City of Meridian.
