Historic Preservation Commission - Apply Today
The City of Meridian is seeking applications from Meridian citizens interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission. The preferred candidate will be appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by the City Council, and will serve a partial term thru October 31, 2019.
The Historic Preservation Commission works to preserve the character and fabric of historically-significant areas and structures within the city of Meridian, in order to honor and preserve its rich heritage for future generations. The commission meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at Meridian City Hall.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in history or historic preservation. Candidates with professional training or experience in the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, urban planning, archaeology, engineering, law, or other disciplines relevant to historic preservation are preferred.
Anyone who would like to be considered for this voluntary position should complete an application form, which can be found online here, or can be obtained from the Meridian City Clerk’s office. In addition, a letter of interest and resume should be included with the application and sent to Mayor Tammy de Weerd at Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Meridian, ID., 83642, by Monday, February 11, 2019.
