Curbside grass and leaf recycling is an optional additional recycling service for Meridian residents.

For an additional fee, you will be provided with a separate recycling cart for your grass clippings.

This service will keep the grass out of the landfill and instead those clippings will be transported to a silage pit in Ada County where they will be reused beneficially for agricultural purposes.

This cart shifts from grass in October to Leaf-Only recycling. It serves as an extra trash can December through March, then back to a grass-only cart April through October.

Republic Services’ Recycle the Fall program offers both curbside pickup and drop off of your leaves.

Please follow the instructions below for each option.

Pickup (November 5-24)

  • Leaves must be in the large, compostable leaf bags in order to be picked up. Cluster the leaf bags on the sidewalk, 3-feet from your trash and recycling carts. Keep the leaf bags open for easy identification of the contents.
  • Leaves should be to your curb by 7AM on your regular trash day. A leaf recycling truck will be by on your regular service day to collect the bags. This may occur as late as 8PM, so please do not remove the bags or worry that you were missed before that time.
  • Please refrain from putting anything besides leaves into the bags. This includes, contaminants such as rocks, sticks, and dog poop - as they may spoil the load and result in landfilling instead of recycling.
  • Please remember that leaves and yard waste should never be placed in your regular recycling cart or Hefty® EnergyBag®.

Drop Off (October 17 – December 5)

Meridian Transfer Station: 2130 W. Franklin Road (between Linder and Ten Mile, enter on Ward Street)

  • Leaves must be in the large, compostable leaf bags or loose when dropped off. Please do not drop off plastic bags.
  • Leaves may be dropped off during regular business hours. M-F 7:30AM-5:00PM -- SAT 8:00AM-5:00PM (Closed Holidays)
