Art Week Flyer 2019

September 3 - 7, 2019

A week dedicated to celebrating the integral role that art plays in our lives.

Art creates a sense of place, beautification of public areas, offers community expression and dialogue, and enhances the quality of life for Meridian residents and visitors.

The Arts can be used as a conduit for exchanging ideas, connecting with one another, finding common ground, and can help to strengthen Meridian’s communities and families.

Our goal for Meridian Art Week is to encourage downtown businesses and guests to take part in the arts through a number of various activities offered throughout the week and through Art Drop, which lasts all week long.

We kick off Meridian Art Week with an art exchange, dance lessons, and film screening near the Meridian Community Center and Centennial Park. To participate in the art exchange: take a piece of art that you created, wrap it (brown paper, old wrapping paper, bag, etc.), and bring it with you to the kick off event. People will exchange art with one another, not knowing exactly what you will get. (It is like a face-to-face art drop, if you will.) Dance lessons will be taught by Jennifer Babione of Lessons in Dance. We have a limited supply of past Meridian Art Week t-shirts that we will give to people who want to tie-dye with alcohol inks at our booth.
