When it comes to local government, there are a lot of moving parts and pieces – and each municipality does things a little differently. In Meridian, we have 20 departments and within those, 48 divisions, which are operated by over 450 incredible employees (I may be biased!). But – who does what? It can be confusing how each piece – each department – is connected. That’s why its important to do our best to ensure that Meridian residents understand the basics. One way that we do that is through our City 101 classes.

What is City 101? Meridian’s ‘City 101’ is a behind the scenes look at your City. The content was developed based on a survey of approximately 300 people to let us know about the topics that interest them the most. There are three sessions being held in July – each with its own unique content. Through City 101 you will meet the directors, chiefs, and elected officials and get an overview of the department’s purpose, operations, and several of the premier services that they provide to Meridian residents. This series is perfect for a wide range of ages, from our Girl Scouts to our Senior Volunteers. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life, or are new to our beautiful community, I encourage you to join us to learn more about your City Government. Space is limited, so be sure to register soon! I hope to see you there.
