Property and Evidence
The Property and Evidence section maintains and secures all evidence, found property, safekeeping property for court presentation or until the property can be returned to the rightful owner or legally destroyed.
LOCATION and HOURS
The Property and Evidence section is located within the Meridian Police Department, at 1401 E Watertower in Meridian, Idaho. Evidence Technicians are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Evidence Office is closed on all holidays and weekends.
BEFORE VISITING PROPERTY and EVIDENCE
Please contact the Property and Evidence section via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or at 208-489-0372 to be put in contact with an Evidence technician and schedule an appointment to retrieve your property. Without an appointment, you may not be able to pick up your property.
PROPERTY WILL NOT RELEASE WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION.
You must bring with you valid government-issued photo identification and your report number as well as any paperwork that was sent to you (notification letter, Disposition sheet). If you do not know the report number associated with your property, you may contact the Meridian Police Department at 208-489-0372. Our Records or Property and Evidence section will assist you in locating that information and setting up an appointment to pick up your property.
FIREARMS RELEASE PROCEDURE
If one or more firearms belonging to you were seized by this department, you will need to fill out and return to us a Seized Weapons Affidavit before any firearm will be released. Please call our Property and Evidence section with any questions.
HAVING ANOTHER PERSON RETRIEVE YOUR PROPERTY
If you are having someone else pick up your property, you must complete the Owner Authorization Form below, have it notarized and have your designee present it when retrieving your property. That individual will also need to call and set up an appointment to pick up your property.
