Environmental Excellence Awards


Meridian’s Environmental Excellence Awards recognize businesses, individuals, and organizations for their innovation in and commitment to environmental stewardship to make Meridian a sustainable, healthy, and premier community.

Award Eligibility

  • Businesses – Located in or operate within the City of Meridian
  • Individuals – Current Meridian resident(s)
  • Organizations – Located in or operate within the City of Meridian 


Nominee's efforts in environmental stewardship must go above and beyond minimum standards required by law.

Award Categories

  • Environmental Education/Outreach – Teaching children and/or adults how to learn about and investigate their environment, and make informed decisions about how they can take care of it.
  • Transportation – Promoting increased fuel efficiency or supporting alternative forms of transportation – walking, bicycling, carpooling, public transit.
  • Energy Efficiency/Green Building – designing, building or renovating high performance buildings and environmentally sensitive development.
  • Water Quality and Conservation – Promoting water use conservation and/or efforts to improve water quality in our rivers, streams and aquifer.
  • Waste Reduction/Pollution Prevention- improving processes to reduce waste, recycle/reuse materials, and/or reduce use of hazardous substances.


Nominations will be evaluated by the Environmental Excellence Award Committee on a number of criteria including: effectiveness, innovation, replicability, duration, and benefit to the quality of life in Meridian.

Nominations for the 2017 awards will be accepted until December 31, 2017.
