Each February we put out the Annual Report for the City of Meridian. This report is a snapshot in time of the work our employees completed in 2021 and some highlights from our community partners as we capture how we are evolving in Meridian.
First I want to say how much I appreciate the City of Meridian employees, and our private and public sector partners. Without them, the successes we are sharing would not be possible. They are the ones who are collaborating with one another, engaging with the community, and delivering results for us all to benefit from. I also want to say thank you to the Meridian City Council for supporting the ideas, projects and vision of our departments to bring forward these accomplishments.
The 2021 Annual Report is broken down into the sections of our strategic plan (Responsible Growth, Transportation and Infrastructure, Business and Economic Vitality, Public Health and Safety, Vibrant and Sustainable Community and Government Excellence) so you can see how the work of our employees and our partners is focused into meeting our vision of being the West’s premier community in which to live, work and raise a family.
While a completed project in the Annual Report may be highlighted in two or three sentences, those words could be a decade in the making as a project goes from the initial concept, to the planning stages, through funding, into construction and ultimately implementation. Major capital projects are identified years in advanced, then saved for over time so we can follow our save before we spend model. This takes people bought into the plans and concepts and staying focused on our outcomes to bring these successes to our stakeholders.
As you read about what we’ve accomplished over the past year, I encourage you to take note of where we are headed. We have many projects on the horizon in the coming years, and we all look forward to seeing them coming to fruition for your benefit. For now, I hope you enjoy the information in the 2021 Annual Report, and that the accomplishments outlined have helped improve the quality of life we all enjoy here in Meridian.
