Spring Cleanup

During Spring Cleanup, Meridian City residents can place additional trash and accepted, scheduled bulky items on the curb for free on their regular trash pickup day. Note that this service only covers trash, and any additional recyclables should be brought to the Meridian Transfer Station » at no additional cost.

Scheduling is open through April 27 at noon.  

Event Timeframe: Monday, May 1st to Friday, May 5th

How to Participate

Bulky items are too large for your trash cart, such as chairs and appliances (e.g., dishwashers).

Schedule online for your pick up by clicking on Schedule Bulky Item towards the top of the page. Listing of accepted bulky items is located within the scheduling form.

Guidelines:

  • Place items next to your trash cart by 7 am on your regular trash day.
  • Bulky items that DO NOT contain Freon are free during this event.
  • For Freon appliances (e.g., refrigerators, A/C units), the regular $64.05 fee still applies. This fee is added to your utility bill.
  • Each household is limited to seven (7) bulky items.
  • Outside of large appliances, bulky items may not weigh more than 60 pounds.
  • Please note, bulky items are collected by a separate truck, which may come at a different time than your regular trash pickup.

NOT Accepted: *

  • Basketball hoops with cement footings attached
  • Bathtubs
  • Boats
  • Business waste
  • Car parts
  • Construction & demolition debris
  • Electronic Waste (e.g., rechargeable batteries and computer items)
  • Fence posts
  • Hot tubs
  • Household Hazardous Waste (e.g., mercury-containing items and chemicals)
  • Pianos
  • Tires
  • Tube TVs

* Please remember that rechargeable batteries can cause fires. These batteries can become damaged when compacted in the collection trash trucks and damaged batteries cause fires.  

Guidelines:

  • All smaller items must be contained within a tightly closed plastic bag, personal trash container, box, or bundled and tied together. Your personal containers will not be taken.
  • Each household is limited to ten (10) small items.
  • For plastic bags, a 30-pound weight limit applies to each bag.
  • Personal containers must be smaller than 32-gallons and weigh less than 60-pounds.
  • Trash bundles cannot exceed four (4) feet in length nor weigh more than 30-pounds.

NOT Accepted: *

  • Business waste
  • Construction & demolition debris
  • Electronic Waste, such items as rechargeable batteries and computer item
  • Household Hazardous Waste (e.g., mercury-containing items and chemicals)
  • Sharp objects (e.g., broken glass and syringes)
  • Tires
  • Tube TVs

Have too much cardboard to fit inside your recycling cart? Recycle your cardboard for free at the Meridian Transfer Station located at 2130 W Franklin Rd. Meridian.

Guidelines:

  • Both large and small cardboard pieces are accepted.
  • Flatten all cardboard.
  • Remove all other materials (e.g. packing peanuts, StyrofoamTM, plastic bags).
